BOB LEATHERBARROW

Drum Set Artist /Vibraphone Artist /Percussionist /Composer

Bob Leatherbarrow has been a top musician for both studio and live performances ever since he moved to Los Angeles from Buffalo, New York. A working professional since the age of 14, Bob has been playing with top musicians in all-different musical settings for most of his life. He plays with jazz and rock/pop artists, has worked on Grammy Award-winning albums, and you’ve heard him on a million film and television soundtracks as well. You can hear Bob play on the 20th Century Fox fanfare playing the snare drum every minute of the day somewhere in a movie theatre or DVD, for example. He has also played around the world at most major jazz festivals and toured with many top performers.

In addition, Bob’s compositions have been recorded by many other jazz and pop artists. They have also been featured in films and TV, and he has produced for other artists as well.

Background:

  • Studied drums from age 10 with Charlie Lorigo in Buffalo NY, later studied orchestral percussion with John Rowland of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and vibraphone with Grammy-winning artist Dave Samuels
  • Studied music throughout high school including jazz and concert ensembles, was chosen for the All-New York State and All-County Orchestra programs, and received the Arion Achievement Award
  • Attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and won the “Outstanding Drummer Award” at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival before moving to Los Angeles
